The Jackson Hole area is one of the most spectacular spots in the country to view fall foliage. Although it can vary from year to year depending on climatic conditions, the third week of September is generally considered the “peak” for Wyoming fall foliage. Besides a landscape of dramatic orange and red leaves, fall is also a crucial time for the local wildlife. It is mating season for our deer, elk, and bull moose, while our bears are actively scavenging for as much food as they can find before going into hibernation for the winter.

Of course, you are not the only one who wants to experience the dramatic fall season. Although crowds are typically smaller than they are during the summer, peak fall foliage draws thousands of tourists. If you prefer a less crowded, more intimate, and more affordable fall retreat, consider staying with us at Flying Saddle Resort.

About Our Location

We are located at the entrance to the Snake River Canyon, on the banks of the Snake River in Alpine, Wyoming. We are just 45 minutes from Jackson Hole, less than an hour from Grand Teton National Park, approximately one hour from Grays Lake National Wildlife Refuge, and under two hours from the South gate to Yellowstone National Park. Yet we are a world apart in terms of far lower crowds, easy access to activities and amenities, and a more intimate experience.
